At April’s Solo Pros meeting, we’ll discuss how KCPT, Kansas City’s only public television station, has become a multi-platform media company with a fresh approach to local broadcasting and social media. You’ll hear from Angee Simmons, vice president of TV production and creative services, who will share with us the story topics that interest them, how they’re covering them and most importantly, how we can better align our pitches with KCPT's needs.

She’ll explain what falls under the newly reinvented Kansas City PBS umbrella, and what it all means for our businesses:

  • Flatland (www.flatlandkc.org) – launched in October 2015 as the metro's digital magazine covering in-depth, investigative news and features; includes the categories: Eats & Drinks, Farm & Field, People & Places, News-Issues, Arts & Culture. Angee also will explain the Harvest Public Media and Heartland Health Monitor relationships under Flatland.
  • KC Local 90.9 The Bridge – all-music, FM radio station spotlighting local and regional music with community news andcalendar opportunities
